Hauke was a legal advisor for private/public building and public procurement law in Kiel and Hamburg until deciding to pursue his more artistic interests and becoming a freelance photographer.
He got into photography in his early years, starting with a plain Kodak Instamatic. It became more serious a few years later with the first SLR. Avid in the how-tos and having seen the works of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Andreas Feininger and Ernst Haas he dove into the darkroom many night, experimentating with films, papers and chemical processes.
Hauke’s pictures are unmistakable. Even working in a crowd of photographers, his shots are different. His talent for rare captures of breathtaking sights and atmosphere imbue his portfolio. This success is born of a lifelong passion for nature and a keen eye for the many moods light creates. By carefully researching the locations as well as pre-visualizing the photographs he wants to take, he always strives for simplicity and consciously moves the viewer’s eye into a story…
